Westinghouse Power
What would cause my LCD Monitor to hiss?
Type: 24″ LCD Monitor
Model: L2410NM
Make: Westinghouse
Power cord: standard power cable
Video cable: vga out from the monitor to a dvi converter connecting to my pc tower
Symptoms:
1. Began as a hissing noise at start up and diminished gradually as monitor warmed up
-before it would warm up, there was a positive correlation between the intensity of the hiss and amount of white (brightness) found in the content of the intended image being projected.
2. Recently I powered on my pc and monitor, it made a hiss (and a faint struggling noise), the screen flickered, and I have not been able to get it to work since.
I am not against purchasing a replacement component and would really like to fix this. Monitor is just over a year old (suspiciously close). Forums are useless. Please help, and thank you for reading this overly wordy novel of a problem description.
Sorry to say it sounds like it has failed and they are virtually throw away items now.
But did you check that the hiss wasn’t just the inbuilt speakers with no input, as you don’t mention connecting them,…. the VGA cable only carries the vision?
