Drill Tap
“insert heli coil or not”?
Threads are gone. Should I drill and tap one size up or buy heli coil kit and drill tap and insert heli coil?

I agree, I am auto technician. A properly done heli-coil will be much stronger than the existing threads, especially if the alloy of the metal is aluminum. Trust me, they are so much better than just using a tap and die set and putting a bigger bolt in. However, there are bad and good heli-coil sets. Usually a decent automotive store will sell a good set, but companies like Wurth generally make a better heli-coil set.
